Hunter's Moon and Sunrise Viewing
5 AM Monday 10/26/26
This October, we are proud to introduce a new wellness initiative, inviting guests to connect with the profound energy of the moon through the curated, sensory‑driven experience set against Karuizawa’s peak autumn foliage.
Moon viewing is one of Japan’s most cherished traditions, a moment when family and friends gather to slow down, connect, and marvel at nature’s beauty. The Hunter’s Moon, one of autumn’s most unique celestial wonders, provides vital energy through its remarkable luminance, while marking a time of changing seasons, reflection, and gathering.
While dusk indicates the moon’s arrival, dawn reveals its climax. Guided by our team, guests ascend to 1,200 meters via a private drive, arriving at the historic border of Nagano and Gunma. As the night sky softens into hues of lavender and rose, the full Hunter’s Moon begins its majestic descent. The silver orb deepens into a burnished gold, suspended above the jagged ridges of Mount Asama and the sweeping Western Alps, illuminating a sea of fiery autumn leaves. In a rare dual spectacle, the golden moon sets in the west just as the sun rises in the east, painting the horizon with a breathtaking interplay of light.
