Shishi-Iwa House’s annual Chefs’ Retreat is an experimentation in collaborative creativity, exploring the intersection of local culture, nature and gastronomy. The program started in 2023 with the premise:
Can architecture and/in nature inspire creativity?
How does the natural environment catalyze the creative process?
Can ‘spark’ start from a place of stillness?
Since then each autumn, Shishi -Iwa House brings together 5 chefs and their families for a private retreat to explore the roots of creativity. The chefs are chosen for their reverence for seasonal ingredients, close collaborations with local farmers and purveyors, and their groundbreaking culinary approaches.
Past participants included Kyumin Hahn (Kadeau), Time Flores & Genie Kwon (Kasama), Kwang Uh & Mina Park (Baroo), David Lai, (Neighborhood), Julien Royer (Odette), Mingoo Kang (Mingles), Vaughan Mabee (Amisfield), Joris Rousseau (Feuille), Stephan Duhesme (Metiz).
